Governor Ron DeSantis’ Florida is the most successful state — out of all fifty — in limiting the spread of COVID.
As of December 2, 2021, Florida ranked fiftieth in the nation in the number of New COVID cases per 100,000 population in the past seven days, a tremendous feat considering how small and relatively isolated so many other states are.
According to the New York Times (https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2021/us/covid-cases.html), Florida experienced only 6 new COVID cases per 100,000 population over the past seven days. The US average over the same period was 26. New York State had 34. New Jersey had 28. But the states that have largely ignored CDC guidelines, masking recommendations, store and restaurant closing requirements, and masking mandates, Texas (12 new cases) and Florida (6 new cases) were among the best in the country.
In combatting a pandemic, all would agree that experiential data is the most informative. The fact that the experience of the states directly contradicts the advice of the CDC and of the Biden Administration should set to rest who was right and who was wrong.
Florida is also one of the national leaders in reducing COVID deaths despite a very large elderly population. The state’s average deaths per 100,000 people was 0.23 compared with the national average of 0.29. This despite having a population that is 21% elderly compared with the US average of 16%.
In hospitalizations, too, Florida comes out well, recording only 6 new hospitalizations over the past seven days per 100,000 population compared with a national average of 17. New York had 16 new hospitalizations per 100k, a 34% spike.
So, if we don’t elect DeSantis president, lets at least put him in charge of the NIH and get rid of Fauci!
