DeSantis Voted To Cut Social Security And Medicare

By Dick Morris on February 20, 2023

Florida governor Ron DeSantis touched the “third rail” of American politics in 2012 when, as a congressman, he supported House Speaker Paul Ryan’s plan to privatize Social Security and Medicare and to turn them into a voucher system.

In addition, in 2013 and 2015, he voted for a budget resolution to raise the retirement age to 70.

He also backed an alternate way of calculating the cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) to reduce the size of the adjustment.

As DeSantis moves closer to deciding to run for president, these votes and endorsements will cripple him and likely make it impossible for him to defeat either Trump or the Democrats.
