Sliwa Is The Only Candidate Who Can Save And Beat Mamdani To Save New York

I’ve helped shape campaigns at the highest levels — from Bill Clinton to Donald Trump — and if there’s one thing experience teaches, it’s how to recognize when the political winds are shifting.
Right now, those winds are blowing toward Curtis Sliwa.
In the three-way race for mayor of New York City between Sliwa, Andrew Cuomo, and Zohran Mamdani, the field is fragmented.
But within that division lies Sliwa’s path to victory.
In a city hungry for safety, accountability, and common sense, Curtis Sliwa is the only candidate who can unify the middle and win.
Let’s be blunt: this race is not your typical Democrat-Republican showdown.
Cuomo and Mamdani are splitting the Democratic vote right down the middle — and both are deeply flawed in ways that New Yorkers can see clearly.
Mamdani, the far-left Assemblyman from Queens, wants to close Rikers Island — yes, the city’s main jail — and effectively release thousands of criminals onto our streets.
He supports eliminating bail, gutting the very system that keeps repeat offenders off the subway platforms and away from innocent families.
His policies are anti-police, anti-jail, and anti-safety. If you like chaos, he’s your man.
Cuomo, meanwhile, paved the way for radicals like Mamdani.
It was Cuomo who championed the no-bail law, turning New York into a revolving door for criminals.
It was Cuomo who proudly declared New York a “sanctuary city,” preventing federal agents from deporting illegal immigrants who committed crimes.
Between Cuomo’s failed policies and Mamdani’s radical ideology, the city is at risk of becoming unlivable again — just as it was before Rudy Giuliani cleaned it up in the 1990s.
Curtis Sliwa is the only candidate in this race who understands the heartbeat of this city.
He’s not a polished politician — and that’s precisely why voters trust him.
A born-and-bred New Yorker, Sliwa built his reputation on action, not rhetoric.
As founder of the Guardian Angels, he patrolled dangerous neighborhoods when others looked the other way. He’s stood up for working-class New Yorkers, for law enforcement, and for victims of crime.
While Mamdani and Cuomo talk about criminal “justice reform,” Sliwa talks about protecting victims and neighborhoods.
He’s the only one who would restore bail laws, re-incarcerate repeat offenders, and support our police officers instead of vilifying them.
In a recent AARP/Gotham poll, Sliwa’s support jumped from 17% to 19.4% after a strong debate performance — and that number will rise further as voters focus on public safety, the issue that defines this election.
Let’s not forget who Andrew Cuomo really is.
His record is filled with scandal, hypocrisy, and betrayal of New Yorkers.
Cuomo’s disastrous handling of the COVID-19 pandemic led to the unnecessary deaths of thousands of seniors.
He forced nursing homes to accept COVID-positive patients, a decision that resulted in mass tragedy — and then covered up the numbers.
That alone should disqualify him from public life, let alone leadership.
Then there’s his war on religion — particularly against Catholics and Jews.
Cuomo’s law enabling decades-old, anonymous lawsuits against Catholic priests and institutions has devastated the Church in New York. Nearly every Catholic diocese in the state has gone bankrupt because of it.
The New York Archdiocese is hanging by a thread, facing financial ruin.
Cuomo targeted faith institutions under the guise of “justice,” when in reality it was a cynical political play to curry favor with trial lawyers and the activist left.
And for Jewish voters — many of whom remember Cuomo’s repeated public clashes with Orthodox communities — the distrust runs deep.
It’s no wonder Rudy Giuliani, the man who saved New York once before, has endorsed Sliwa “100 percent.”
Rudy sees what I see: a divided Democratic field and a real chance for Sliwa to pull off an upset.
New York City elections are rarely about ideology — they’re about turnout and energy.
Cuomo and Mamdani will cannibalize each other’s base.
Cuomo appeals to older establishment Democrats, while Mamdani draws the activist left. That split will leave room for a third force — a candidate who appeals to the middle, to independents, and to Republicans desperate to save their city.
That’s Sliwa’s lane.
If Curtis can consolidate Republicans and conservative Democrats, while peeling away independents tired of crime, chaos, and corruption, he can win this race with as little as 35–38 percent of the total vote.
That’s entirely doable in a three-way split.
Remember: Giuliani won in 1993 because voters were fed up with crime.
They wanted a mayor who would restore order and pride to New York. We’re back in that same moment today.
This race ultimately boils down to a simple question: do New Yorkers want to feel safe again?
Mamdani wants to close the jails. Cuomo helped open the doors to them in the first place. And both men want to tie the hands of the police.
Sliwa is the only one who will stand with law enforcement, stand up for victims, and bring back common sense.
He’s not a career politician — he’s a fighter. He’s been on the subways, in the neighborhoods, and on the front lines when crime was at its worst.
He knows what it takes to turn this city around.
If New Yorkers stick together — Republicans, independents, and even moderate Democrats — Sliwa can do what no one thinks possible: win this election and restore sanity to our city.
Rudy Giuliani knows it. I know it. And soon, all of New York will too.

NYC Mayoral Race: Sliwa Coming On Strong After Debate
In the race for Mayor of New York City, a comparison of the Emerson Poll of September 7-8 and the AARP poll of October 14-15, shows a surge in support for Curtis Sliwa in the three-way race with two weeks to go.
Mamdani has held steady at 43% of the vote in both polls. Andrew Cuomo has also held steady, gaining a point to 29% (from 28% in September). The big gainer is Curtis Sliwa who has grown from only 10 percent of the vote in the Emerson Poll of September 7-8, to 19.4% in the AARP/Gotham Poll of October 14-15.
Changes in the polling in New York City have historically been minor at first, but very dramatic at the end.
Particularly because doubts about Sliwa’s chances of beating Mamdani have dogged his campaign, his surge with two weeks to go may well transform the race and give Sliwa a fighting chance to beat Mamdani.

If Mamdani Wins…Trump Will Take Over The City And The GOP Will Take Over The State
If Zohran Kwame Mamdani is elected Mayor of New York City, it will inevitably trigger the takeover of the City by the Trump Administration.
One-third of the City’s operating budget comes from state and federal aid. Trump will undoubtedly react to a Mamdani victory by slashing — or even totally freezing — federal aid to both the City and the State.
In addition, Mamdani’s socialist agenda will make it very hard for the City or the State to borrow long term or even short term on the bond markets. Local tax revenues, that pay for two-thirds of the City budget, are heavily dependent on property tax collections which generated over $32 billion last year. His proposed rent freeze would cause a sharp drop in property tax collections, necessitating both long and short term borrowing to make the budget balance.
New York City, under state law, is a creature of New York State and totally subservient to its laws and wishes.
In fact, the Governor of the State can remove the Mayor, a power last exercised by then Governor Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1932 when he tried to fire New York City Mayor Jimmy Walker over bribery allegations. Walker resigned before Roosevelt could act.
The daily need of the City and State for federal and state aid to meet its budget obligations as well as the legal power of the governor over the mayor, give both Trump and New York State Governor Kathy Hochul tremendous political and financial leverage over any City mayor.
Should Trump move to cut off federal funds to New York City, it would trigger a financial crisis far greater than that in the 1970s that forced a State takeover of City finances.
The fiscal squeeze that would follow a cutoff of federal aid would pose serious political problems for Kathy Hochul, a Democrat, who endorsed Mamdani for mayor.
Hochul, along with the New York State legislature, faces re-election in 2026. She can expect a very strong Republican challenge likely by upstate Congresswoman Elise Stefanik. Stefanik’s district borders on Vermont and Canada and encompasses the Adirondack State Park.
Stefanik was originally facing a possible Republican primary against Hudson Valley Congressman Mike Lawler before Trump appointed her as UN Ambassador. But fearing the loss of Lawler’s seat, Trump pulled the appointment, clearing the way for Stefanik to run for governor, challenging Hochul.
A federal cut or freeze in aid to New York State would either put Hochul in the position of defending Mamdani’s Socialist policies, or trying to rein him in, either a course certain to divide her Democratic support.
It’s unlikely that Hochul could win re-election in this environment, opening the door to GOP victory at the state level.
Under Trump’s heel, New York City would be governed by rules very similar to those which govern Washington DC, whether because Trump forces the delegation of home rule to Washington or because of the financial realities he would force upon New York City.
Either way, Mamdani’s victory would force Trump to step in.

Poll: Optimism That Grew With Trump Is Fading
While the proportion voters who feel the country is on the right track rose sharply at the start of Trump’s second term, the upward movement has since stagnated, and voters remain split with only 40% saying the country is on the right track and 51% still thinking it’s on the wrong track.
More important, only 34% feel that their personal financial situation is improving while 43% feel it is getting worse and 23% say they are “just as well off” meaning that there has not been much change.
These results are from the Harvard-Harris survey of Oct. 1-2, 2025, the most important and accurate of recent polls.
Oddly, the poll reflects broad approval for virtually all of Trump’s policies as they fly out of the Oval Office at an astonishing rate.

78% support deporting illegal immigrants who have committed crimes and 56% support deporting all illegals regardless of whether they have committed crimes while here.

68% back creating a government website to sell meds directly to consumers at lower prices.
-
65% back banning men from female sports.
-
63% support using the military against drug cartels.
-
58% support his cuts in foreign aid.
-
54% support ending bans on offshore drilling.
-
59% support imposing reciprocal tariffs on countries that raise tariffs on us.
But approval of these policies is not enough to offset the general disappointment that his anti-inflation efforts are not more successful.
Of course, the economic stats suggest that he has lowered inflation to almost zero and that incomes have outpaced price increases every month.
But, as they say, don’t confuse us with the facts. We are dealing with perceptions.
It may take a while for perceptions to catch up with the facts, but that may not happen until it is too late for the 2026 midterm elections.
Trump is sitting on a lot of cash in the federal treasury.

New Supreme Court Case Could Ban Racial Considerations In Congressional Apportionment
In 1962, the Supreme Court ruled that congressional districts must be drawn according to the “one man one vote” rule. The lawsuit was brought by WMCA Chairman R. Peter Strauss and fundamentally transformed American politics.
Now, another case has reached the Supreme Court–Louisiana v Callais–which could rewrite the laws governing the congressional apportionment of seats. The lawsuit says that basing congressional lines on racial considerations, or even taking them into account, is unconstitutional.
Should the Supreme Court decide with the plaintiffs in this case it will revise congressional apportionment and could cost the Democrats more than 20 seats in the House.
Ironically shortly after the Supreme Court decision, Republican strategist Lee Atwater convinced the party that one man one vote had a real potential to grow Republican ranks in the House. He said that court mandates to draw lines creating majority-minority district would bleed white liberals out of other districts and permit the election of conservative Republicans.
Until now this rationale has dominated American politics. As a result, the number of African-American congressman has swelled to sixty-seven, about 15% of the body.
But if the Callais decision goes against the defendants, racial considerations could be barred from consideration in any reapportionment of Congress. This would deny Democrats a built-in edge of almost 20 seats in the House, forcing competitiveness in districts where Democratic minorities had always confidently expected election.
Race based congressional apportionment has reached such a point where race, almost alone, has been used for outrageous gerrymandering. District lines regularly are bent and strain to incorporate enough minority voters to satisfy the Department of Justice, Democrats, and the courts.
The Callais case threatens to make dozens of districts truly competitive and curb minority power in the House — a welcome victory for democracy.

To do battle against these imaginary foes, they label their opponents “fascist” and enlist their fellow trans population even to the point of inciting them to murder conservative thinkers and teachers.
But their grevences are largely illusory. There is no avalanche of discriminatory legislation and rules pending in legislatures or congress against them. No plans for segregation or expulsion No terrorist group like the Klu klux klan lurks outside of school to attack them.
That the trans community has been in the cross hairs of political partisan controversy is simply because their advocates support, in effect, kidnapping under age minors and, using public funds, to persuade them to undergo dangerous surgical and hormonal treatment to change who they are often without parental permission or even notification. That and their demands that trans athletes compete on equal terms with other students who have not been surgically or hormonally altered.
These requests are not of the genocidal nature the left likes to attack, but apparently are draconian enough to incite violence and even murder.
In targeting an audience of young people who are so unsettled that they want to change their gender, the left has hit upon the raw material for a goon squad, later day brown shirts, to keep the pot boiling and try to cow moderate and reasonable voices into submission.
The left has walled off the trans community and taught it to hate and fear normal people. It has given them guns and sufficient training to shoot out a man’s jugular at 200 yards with a single bullet. And that is the true story of the murder of Charlie KIRK.

As Dream Of Home Ownership Fades, Young Voters Turn To Socialism
Socialism is on the rise in America. With Zohran Mamdani leading in the polls for Mayor of New York City, the leftward trend among under 40-year-old voters is undeniable.
More than half of all under forty year old voters —53% — would be like to see a “democratic socialist” as the next president according to a Rasmussen Reports survey of 1,201 U.S. Likely Voters ages 18 to 39, conducted on August 26-27, 2025.
And 76% said they “somewhat” or “strongly” agree that “major Industries like health care, energy, and big tech should be nationalized to give more control and equity to the people.”
Driving this dangerous trend is economic frustration and pessimism about the prospects of home ownership among young voters.
The high interest rates the Fed is artificially maintaining is extinguishing the dream of home ownership for young voters and driving them to socialism. And they are embracing increasingly radical policies in their frustration.
The median price of a home is now $415,000 according to the National Association of Realtors.
While President Trump has been quick to identify this problem, his demands for lower interest rates have yet to resonate with the gray heads in whose hands the decision rests.
But there are important steps the president and Congress can take to increase the inventory of homes for sale and to lower their price.
First among these is to relieve the burden of high capital gains taxes that freezes the inventory of dwellings and drives up their price. Federal action to exempt single family homes from capital gains taxes, or at least, to declare a “holiday” suspending these taxes for a period of several years, would unleash massive new numbers of affordable homes onto the market.
The President and Congress can also act to cap the interest rates credit card companies can charge consumers. Particularly when late payments of defaults threaten, credit card companies routinely are charging more than 20 percent interest and some have gone even higher.
Usury laws are ineffective because of inter-state banking that the lenders use to evade them.
In the campaign, Trump called for a cap of ten percent on credit card interest rates. A study by Vanderbilt University released last month suggests that a such a cap save Americans $100 billion in annual interest costs.
The study found that “banks and credit card companies would be able to withstand a national cap of 15 percent” if the banks continued to offer rewards and perks like points and airport lounge access. “If interest rates were capped at 10%, the business model gets more difficult,” the study found but said that “most lenders could still make money off most card customers.”
Socialist politicians like Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders have introduced a bill in Congress that would match Trump’s campaign proposal of capping interest rates at 10%.
Unless we act to relieve the financial strains on young families, we risk reaping the socialist whirlwind.

Sending In The National Guard To Cities Is Playing With Fire
While President Trump is getting well deserved plaudits for sending in the National Guard to help police the streets in Washington DC, we need to realize that this is a high risk strategy. These brave men and women in the National Guard are not trained cops and, when confronted with fraught and dangerous urban problems, there is a significant risk of over-reaction.
We do not want another George Floyd or Rodney King situation on our hands.
And there is a much better way to control urban crime. The problem stems from overly lenient left-wing policies that have crippled urban police departments and tied their hands.
No cash bail policies have proliferated and discouraged police who are reluctant to make arrests when the suspects are released even before the bookings are processed.
DOT Secretary Sean Duffy has shown the way to end such crazy policies. This year, criticizing New York City’s subway system, he threatened to withhold federal funds until the MTA does more to keep the subways safe.
The Federal Department of Transportation (DOT) awarded $2.9 billion in Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) grants to over 1,600 communities from FY22-FY24, and approximately $1.5 billion in May 2025 for city buses.

We don’t need to run the political and social risks of sending National Guard troops to do urban policing. Why take the political risk of incidents of violence that can and would be exploited by the left to promote its narrative of federal overreach and Trumpian dictatorship?
Now, as Trump considers using the national guard to police the streets of Baltimore, Chicago, and New York, let’s not give the left fuel for its fire. Use cutoffs of federal aid to make urban policing more effective.
