THE DICK MORRIS POLL: AMERICAN VOTERS BACK GOVERNORS AGAINST PUBLIC EMPLOYEE UNIONS

For Immediate Release:

March 17, 2011

The Dick Morris Poll of 1000 likely voters throughout the U.S., conducted by live telephone interviews from March 10-15, 2011, found support for the Republican Governors of Wisconsin, Indiana, and Ohio in their battles with their public employee unions by 47-39.

Voters harshly condemned Democratic State Legislators who are boycotting their legislatures to deny the Republicans a quorum so they cannot pass legislation on collective bargaining and municipal unions. By 61-25, they rejected the Democrats’ argument that the boycotts were “necessary to stop legislation restricting unions from being passed” and said they “should return to the legislature and respect the decisions the voters have made in the last election.”

Commenting on the poll results, Dick Morris said, “The liberal media has tried to sell the myth that the public is siding with the unions in these battles. This poll shows the opposite. They largely agree with the restrictions the governors are trying to impose.”

Voter attitudes toward collective bargaining are complex. They wholeheartedly support the right to collective bargaining by public employees. By 39-59 voters reject elimination of collective bargaining for public employee unions and by 43-48 they oppose limiting the bargaining to wages and benefits. But, by 66-25, voters agree with limiting “collective bargaining so that the union contract does not stop the dismissal of incompetent teachers and allows teachers to be paid based on merit not on seniority.”

NY TIMES DISSES FOX NEWS AUTHORS – BEST SELLERS LIST IS NOW POLITICIZED: CONSERVATIVES NEED NOT APPLY

It’s been widely reported that Bill Keller, the Executive Editor of The New York Times, doesn’t like Fox News – and has utter contempt for its conservative audience. He makes no bones about it. According to Keller, those who watch FoxNews are “among the most cynical people on planet Earth.”

Now it turns out that he doesn’t like books written by FoxNews contributors. So on Sunday -for the first time since the New York Times Bestsellers List first appeared in 1942, best selling political books will not appear in the Hardcover Non-Fiction List. Instead, those books will be relegated to the Advice, How-To and Miscellaneous List, along with The 4 Hour Body and Weight Watchers New Cookbook.

NO WAY OBAMA WINS IN 2012

The combination of high oil and gasoline prices, rising food costs, higher health insurance premiums and the likelihood of future inflation has jarred consumer confidence, creating a major crisis for the Obama administration.

The collapse has been sudden and dramatic.

VICTORY IN WISCONSIN…FOR NOW

March 11, 2011
Category: Dick's Articles

Governor Scott Walker and the courageous Senate Republicans have struck a massive blow for education reform and quality schools by their passage of the restrictions on collective bargaining. Now it will be possible, in Wisconsin, to limit teacher tenure — discharging bad ones and promoting good ones. Merit pay, rewarding great teachers with big salaries, will follow. And, should layoffs be needed, we will be able to keep our best teachers regardless of seniority.

Nationally, Walker’s courage impairs the power of the teachers union and undermines the stranglehold it has on our politics. His initiatives, we hope, will spread throughout the nation.

SUSPEND THE GAS TAX

Republicans should demand the immediate suspension of the 18.4-cent federal gasoline tax and, at the state level throughout the nation, the suspension of the additional 30-cent average local tax. When gas prices drop again — likely not for several years — the taxes should resume.

All told, federal, state and local excise and sales taxes account for almost 50 cents of the price of gasoline at the pump. Republicans should seize on the current crisis to promote a smaller-government solution: suspension of the tax.

BRAVO FOR PETER KING

March 10, 2011
Category: Dick's Articles

The need for Congressman Peter King’s hearings on Muslim radicalization in America is amply demonstrated by the backlash against them. If anyone really understood the vast effort underway – through most of America’s mosques – to indoctrinate young Muslims in the ways of radical jihad, there would be no doubt of the need for these hearings.

A study by the Center for Security Policy, headed by Frank Gaffney, found that three-quarters of the mosques in the U.S. actively seek to teach Shariah Law with its mandate to militant action and jihad. While the other quarter merely provides places of worship, they are in the minority.

Most recent domestic acts of terror (or attempted acts) had their root in this Shariah education. There is, according to Steve Emerson (the noted expert on domestic Islamist terrorism) an active effort to recruit young men to carry out acts of mayhem against the American people. It is the duty of Congress to investigate this attack on our security.

To characterize King’s efforts as “McCarthy-ite” or to call them “guilt by association” as the Obama Administration has done, merely attests to the need for these hearings. This is no red herring King is investigating. The Ft. Hood shooter, the Detroit airline would-be hijacker, the Lubbock, Texas wanna-be Bush assassin, and the incompetent Times Square car bomber all had their roots in this network of terror recruitment.

Congressman King’s hearings will probe into the nature of this threat and will, also, highlight the contributions of loyal American Muslims who frequently turn in the would-be terrorists and prevent them from carrying out their crimes.

The vast, vast, vast majority of Muslims are opposed to terror and happily and loyally enjoy the benefits of living in the greatest nation on Earth. But the vast majority of terrorist acts in America are committed by Muslims, spurred on to their violence by the indoctrination they get at Shariah schools.

The Obama Administration would do well to confront this reality rather than blame Peter King for doing so.

TELL REP. KING AND OBAMA WHAT YOU THINK ABOUT THE HEARINGS ON RADICAL ISLAMICS AND TERRORISM

REVOLT! DEBUTS AT #3 ON NYT BEST SELLER LIST!

REVOLT! OPENS IN THIRD PLACE ON NYT BEST SELLER LIST!

Dick’s and Eileen’s new book, Revolt!: How to Defeat Obama and Repeal His Socialist Programs is listed as #3 on the New York Times best seller list, right behind Mike Huckabee’s new and excellent book. The list will be online this weekend and published in the newspaper on March 20, 2011.

Thank you to all of you who bought the book.

But there’s something strange about it. The Times has redesigned its best sellers list. In the past, all political books like Dick’s and Eileen’s were always listed in the hardcover nonfiction list. In fact, we’ve had nine previous best-sellers on the Non-Fiction list.

But now their book (and Mike’s too) is now listed on the “Advice, How To, and Miscellaneous” best sellers list. So now, conservative political strategy must compete with business books and books on how to change your metabolism, diet successfully, and improve your love life. Had Revolt! and Mike’s book been included as hardcover nonfiction, they would have been second and third anyway behind Unbroken.

The Times manipulation is designed to keep Revolt! off the best seller shelves in bookstores and consign it to the back with diet and advice books. We hope that you will show the Times your contempt at this tactic by ferreting out Revolt! and buying it anyway!

Well, the Times may have a point. Revolt! is a how to book. How to defeat Obama, how to repeal Obamacare, how to turn America around, and how to stop the censorship of talk radio. It’s also an advice book on how to stop Obama’s programs with only a one house majority.

We’ll see if liberal strategy books are also confined to the How to List. If, that is, they even make the best seller list…or have a strategy to write about.
