TAX THE SICK: OBAMA’S NEW PLAN

By Dick Morris And Eileen McGann

Faced with a need to scrounge for revenue to fund his plan for health care, President Barack Obama and Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus have come up with a brilliant new idea: Tax the sick!

In a new amendment to the health care bill, they propose to limit the deductibility of medical expenses on income taxes.

Now, taxpayers may deduct any medical expenses that exceed 7.5% of their Adjusted Gross Income. Obama and Baucus want to raise that threshold to 10% as long as the taxpayer is under 65.

Eight million Americans are sick enough and poor enough that they have to pay more than 7.5% of their income in medical expenses. And it is these folks that the liberals Obama and Baucus plan to tax! Six million of them earn less than $75,000 a year!

For a family earning $75,000 a year and facing out-of-pocket medical bills of $7, 500, this proposal would cost them about $600 a year in extra taxes.

And let’s remember who it is that they are taxing. This proposal affects people whose incomes are so limited and whose medical costs are so high that they exceed 7.5% of their pre-tax income.

Their proposal literally hopes to raise $20 billion over ten years by taxing sick people.

The Democrats defend their proposal by saying that it would discourage health care spending. But nobody deliberately spends 7.5% of their income on medical costs unless they are pretty sick and needy.

Obama and Baucus have singled out the sickest among the middle class for this heinous tax. (The poor will not have to pay it because they are eligible for Medicaid). Originally, the Democrats continued their war on the elderly by proposing to tax everyone who spends more than the 7.5% threshold on medical costs. But they retreated when it became clear that six million elderly would be hit with the tax. Now they just sock it to eight million sic k, middle income Americans.

This tax, and their desire to cut Medicare and Medicaid by $500 billion, makes Obama and Baucus unlike any Democrats I have ever known. Democrats, at least when I worked for Clinton, defended the elderly and the sick rather than cut the former and tax the latter.

    Amen to that Debra!!

This reminds me of Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz, watching the sand drain from the hour glass. The extreme left wing of the Democratic Party realizes time is running out (American is catching up with this malarkey) and are doing everything to pass all legislation before the 2010 elections.

There was a lot of rhetoric expended by Obama in the election and now it is obvious all of it was hot air and no substance with exception of transforming America by robbing Peter to Pay Paul.

To Dick Morris, this is like being in a classroom and test scores come back and you scored a 95 and I scored a 65. Instead of allowing me to fail (or perhaps study harder or move to a different career) we take 20 points from you and give it to me making each of us have a75 – that way no one fails.

Does anyone in the President’s administration understand economics? Do they understand that we are in a prolonged recession and raising taxes during one is financial suicide? If we continue down this path there will not be any wealth to redistribute. The Obama administration is going to be remembered as a domestic\foreign policy disaster. All of our worst fears have come true.

Dick Morris’s points are excellent and correct(which is precisely why the mainstream media will likely ignore them).

Obama and the Democrats are controlled by Communist China. If they break the middle class, there will only be low and upper classes. The later being few in number and the lower class being so poor they can’t defend themselves against a repressive regime. America can’t wait two years for elections (change within the parties). Protests and demonstrations have to take place now while taxpayers still have a chance to make a difference. All the talk and discussion in the world won’t change the agenda of Obama and his Administration. Only the physical action of Americans, the same action of our founding fathers when they where overtaxed and burdened by a cruel and unusual government.

People need to realize that water is being withheld from American’s already, California farmers. That is a human rights violation within our own country. Obama knows what he is doing. So stand up America and take a side because being verbally politically correct just isn’t going to keep this country free.
