In two weeks, Obama’s health care plan is likely to become law, ending medicine as we know it in the United States! Unless we can stop him, our own personal access to medical care will be attenuated (no matter if we can pay for it ourselves) and we will all be subject to bureaucratic rationing.
Seeing his popularity draining away rapidly, President Obama has cynically decided to ram through the complex health care legislation in two weeks, without debate or amendment. He is going to give up the attempt to win sixty votes in the Senate and will use the budget reconciliation procedure - which is only used for budget bills - to push it through with fifty votes.
His plan would:
• Force employers either to offer health insurance to their employees or pay a tax of 8% of their payrolls. This would apply to all with payrolls of $250,000 a year or more (basically every business)
• Reduce medical fees to the Medicare Schedule Plus 5%, driving doctors out of the profession and increasing the need for rationing.
• Raise taxes on all making more than $250,000 a year ($350,000 for a couple) with a surcharge. Rates will go as high as 45%.
• Set up a government owned health care plan to compete with private plans. Getting a subsidy, it will soon put the private plans out of business and we will have a single payer Canadian style system.
In Catastrophe, we enumerate the disaster of the Canadian health care system. A cancer death rate 16% higher than in the US. A colon cancer rate 25% higher due to waits for colonoscopies and a death rate once afflicted that is 41% as opposed to 32% in the US. An eight week wait for cancer radiation therapy.

Write Senator Evan Bayh today so you can still see your doctor tomorrow.”
On Monday or Tuesday, we will e mail you info on how to donate to our campaign. We need to raise $4 million in one week to impact this vote. With those funds, we can saturate these states and send the moderate Democrats scurrying for cover. But we need your quick response.

Well I for one have just joined Heritage to help with the cause and have signed several email petitions to stop this madness. Joe Biden said this morning we have to spend all this money to keep from going bankrupt!! That guy definitely needs some mental checkups.
These government actions (e.g., TARP, GM, Chrysler, Stimulus, and Health Care) remind me of when your child (i.e., Congress) keeps saying no, after a parent (i.e., American taxpayer) has time-after-time told them to stop. In the old days, the child would be punished; today the child probably sues the parents. Same way with Congress, they keep getting reelected.
Even though tax cheat Tom Daschle was not selected as head of Health and Human Services this administration is following his writings on Health Care - the elderly are the problem with the health care system.
Taking his example, a 21-year old could have an abortion because of their age and it would be for the good of the country, yet my 78-year old father who had a heart attack (and was in good physical and mental condition) would not receive any coverage because he should die for the good of the country?!! I do not disagree that quality of life should come into play at some point in time; however, that decision should be private and not determined from some government bureaucrat.
This blueprint should scare any baby-boomer because this is the group that is being targeted (after having contributed billions of dollars in Medicare, Social Security and health care taxes/coverage) and we hear nothing from the AARP who bellowed loudly when Bush mentioned redoing Social Security.
Health care, which is not an exact science, seems to be the only profession where 100% accuracy is demanded, which is absurd, and law suits abound for minor issues.

I do not understand the facination with this health care proposal. Since we are military and lived under the Tri-Care “one size fits all” health care, I cannot support national health care in any size, shape, or form. People don’t realize what they are asking for. We just recently received a bill from a hospital. My husband was in the hospital for 5 days after having a minor stroke. The bill already reflected what Medicare required the hospital to write off. The total bill (without doctors) was $33,000.00 plus. After writing off what Medicare won’t allow, the bill was $3300.00 plus. That is all the hospital will get. They provided excellent care, but not for long. If everyone in the country is on somethng similiar to Medicare, this is all any hospital will get. What is a hospital going to pay nurses and other staff with these meager amounts collected under Obama Care? Medical may be skyrocketing and we may need reform, but nurses and other staff are entitled to get paid for services and it looks like that will go down the drain along with everything else. We live in a small area. Several of our doctors have told us that if this health care goes through, they will quit practicing. If we already have a shortage of doctors, what will happen if doctors all over the country quit when this goes into effect? Hmm……..

The current medical care in this country is already controlled by congress and the lawyers. Congress already reduces what medicare will pay for, Doctors already pay thousands per year for liability insurance. Hospitals have to give free care to illigal aliens, who will go to the emergency all care. If Obama was really interested in reducing healthcare costs he and congress would pass tort reform, require medicare to pay more for primary care and the use of medicine, instead of waiting until the death bed.
There are problems with our health-care, but writing a catch-all bill in three months to solve the problem just dumb. Congress should not pass Obama’s bill and then should do some research and make some gradual changes that will solve the problem.
Obama is flooding the TV with the same type of ads that destroyed the
Clinton medical care initiative. These are ads showing varios citizens
and family members talking about what terrible things will happen if
Obama’s health care bills are not passed by the Congress.
The Republicans and the conservative members of our society need to create a similar ad showing how Obama is driving us into a Canadian
type health care system. We need to buy ads the preach the wisdom Dick
Morris so aptly displayed in his great book, “Catastrophe”!!!!
