The perfect storm combining the vast expansion of government’s role in the American economy, a looming Obama triumph and likely huge Democratic gains in Congress augur the most serious threat of the onset of socialism the United States has faced since the New Deal. But while it became obvious that FDR’s goal was to save capitalism, not to replace it, it is by no means clear that Barack Obama is similarly inclined.
As alarm bells ring incessantly, demanding government action to prevent the conflagration of our most important companies and markets, the Federal Reserve and Treasury rush to extinguish the flames with hoses filled with money. But this massive and needed public-sector intrusion into private enterprise begs the key question: After the fires are put out, will the government firefighters leave, or will they move into the companies they saved and evict their former corporate owners?
The current crisis makes it clear that the government will be invited inside the management and ownership of our top financial and corporate institutions. But it is unclear whether it will ever withdraw after the crisis has passed.
Obama’s stated goal of “spreading the wealth around” may indicate an inclination to embrace European-style socialist democracy. His emphasis on promoting “fairness” in income distribution and his willingness to sacrifice economic growth by raising taxes on “the rich” all seem to point in that direction. Will Obama realize that while government is needed to prevent a crash, it is hopelessly inadequate as an engine of prosperity? Bureaucrats are neither sufficiently competent nor honest nor independent enough to make key decisions about where capital should be invested, except when it is needed to extinguish the flames of crisis.
If Obama wins and takes a solidly and overwhelmingly Democratic Congress with him — including a filibuster-proof Senate — we will have to entrust our system of private ownership, limited government and free enterprise to the tender mercy of the left. But the newly empowered liberals will not have to breach the walls of the private sector, justifying each new intrusion by argument and logic. Rather, they will already be inside the gates, invited there to save these institutions from their own history of greed and mismanagement. Will the left simply leave government there, effectively converting our private enterprise system, where government absorbs about a third of our GDP into a social democracy, a la Europe, where the public sector accounts for almost half of the economy?
For those who would rather not find out, it is particularly important to redouble our efforts for John McCain and to battle for each Senate seat. McCain is only seven points behind — not an insurmountable margin. A good final week could save the free enterprise system. We owe it to our future to try.

Here we see democracy at its worst. As a nation, we are not about to blame ourselves for making poor investments, for buying homes we could not afford, and for electing politicians who force banks to make bad loans. Instead, we are filled with rage at the free enterprise system. And we are about to elect the most liberal U.S. Senator as President, based upon a narcissistic desire for “change.”
God help us.
It’s really sad that this election has strayed so far from reality. McCain has been painted as a grumpy old man, and Palin as a dimwitted, naive, yukon- babe. Obama ( “Neo the chosen one”), was handed the hero role, acting like the intellectual omnipotent ringer.
The media has allowed Obama to play his character, read his lines, and narrate his history with only superficial inquiry and validating praise. With the media’s endorsement and Obama carpet-bombing the airwaves , his fictional tale has been accepted as reality.
If you bring up radicals, or bad characters from Obama’s past, you get labeled as a mean, desperate, bottom-feeding alarmist. He reminds me of professor Hill in “the music man” ; coming out of nowhere he is free to create his story and sell his re-labeled, socialistic programs as benevolent “change”. How long will Obama be president before his rhetoric and extreme ideology are revealed, as his real agenda. Maybe it will be too late to stop him from changing the default settings on capitalism, and return to what kept us great.
Dick- please get this to McCain campaign! With a limited budget, and trailing in polls, the effectiveness of Joe the plumber..I think I have a winning strategy for McCain…Each ad that comes out by McCain- too “flowery”- does not connect with the american public- and there are just a few that Obama can refudiate or comeback on. What he needs to do-1) Multiple (50 or more) short (15sec) spots that feature real people to address each issue like a regular person. Example-”My name is Dr. Patrick McDonald (in my white coat)… I have to pay about 35% of my income to the government- Obama will make me pay 39%- thats what I get for working hard.”- And with a blank back ground I walk off the screen…Another example- a pastor “I am a pastor of a church in Virginia. I am concerned that Obama was not telling the truth about his relationship with Wright- what is he hiding?” walks off. (this way ordinary people can bring up the issues McCain does not want to.Another:I am a buisness owner in LA. I employee 23 people. If my taxes go up- guess what will be my first action. Lay off two employees. Yea..that will help the economy- and walk off screen.Another:I am a mother of 4 in Nevada. When Ares was first brought up- it was- “just a guy in my neighborhood, then served on a board, then worked with Acorn”- I am concerned about a President that can’t tell the truth.Another:I am a buisness man who is “supposedly rich” I have 5 children 4 of whom are in college. So my money will be taken from me and given to people who have not worked as hard- yeaa thats fair. Walks off screen
Another:
A couple from North Carolina-” if our taxes go up any further- the first thing we will cut out is our charity we support and eating out. Jobs lost, people not helped”.
Another:
A college student “Isn’t there anything to be said about integrity and honesty anymore? I you know who has both and who does not…Walks off screen.
Flood the airways with these…easy to film…real people..too Cost effective film so many “spots” that Obama’s team won’t know what hit
them and cannot possibly respond to them!
Please….anyone- get this to people who have contacts with the McCain campaign!!
An Obama Presidency is a joy for minorities in America to celebrate and a tragedy for the country. The obvious socialist agenda is disturbing but almost insignificant to what we cannot yet see. We will be tested beyond our capacity to endure. This will not end well.
PROOF Obama part of socialist party - nobody is investigating
WE NEED YOU DICK
Please investigate these issues as the American people need to know who they are voting for

Dick, Your insights on Fox News are always right on the mark in my opinion.
Obama’s Marxist background came to my attention while researching material quite unrelated to the political scene. I strongly encourage you to check out his connection with Marxist Saul Alinski’s Industrial Areas Foundation. He learned his community organization methods while employed there and taught for the IAF for 2-3 years. This is another Chicago South Side organization. Although secular, it has the same goals and credo as “Black Liberation Theology,” the best practitioner of which was quoted to be Jeremiah Wright’s church.
‘Seems to me when one compares Obama’s campaign planks with these ideaologies and “connects the dots” with Bill Ayers, Acorn, etc., one may not get a smoking gun but it sure is a compelling circunstantial case for Obama’s Marxist leanings.
There’s not much time left now and I don’t know how to get this to the right people. I know you can. Please continue to fight as you have been.
