OBAMA’S VOYAGE SHOWS US SALES RESISTANCE

Every day for the past week, I have been anxiously following Rasmussen’s daily tracking poll watching for an Obama bounce from his foreign foray. And every day, the polling shows the same tie that it has shown, inexplicably, for three weeks. (I say inexplicably because of McCain’s inept campaign). Now, finally, after his marvelous Berlin speech, he is showing what Rasmussen calls a “modest” four point bounce.

The difficulty Obama has had in mounting a sustainable lead illustrates the depth of the sales resistance to him among average American voters. His ongoing inability to win the votes of women over 50, in particular, it is interesting and shows that their fear of the “other” is quite pronounced. If McCain were to run a series of ads for weeks on end about Obama’s flip flops, he might make it permanently impossible for the Democrat to mount a lead.

All Americans want change, but when it comes to the opportunity to change things, Americans have an underling fear of making that decision and convince themselves that things aren’t that bad because they fear the “unknown.” Additionally, as we get older in our lives, all of us tend to be more guarded and resist change…that is part of the aging process and I think that indidivudals 50 years and older don’t embrace Obama and tend to favor McCain….because as you so well wrote, he is just a derivative of the Bush Administration, old school guard politics and voters “feel” content with him. I mentioned in a previous comment, voters don’t remember half of what candidates say, but rather how they make them feel and maybe this is why the polls are in a dead heat. But the thing we must all remember, that without change, there can be no growth…….my generation time has expired and a new generation is emerging and they will set the change of motion……and unfortunately McCain is a prisoner of that generation…Nothing to be ashame of, but the time of change is here……we can either become part of it and participate in it, or we can live with what is dealt…..regardless, things will change, whether for the good or for the bad. Figutratively speaking, McCain is an elder fox that is being out smarted by a young hound. McCain’s campaign is so inept and ineffective that I don’t believe he can effectively compete. The elder fox has cornered himself into a den without an exit……and will eventually fade into history.
