CLINTON PLAYS THE RACE CARD AGAIN

By Dick Morris

The persistent flirtation by Clinton operatives, spokesmen, and allies with the race issue, as epitomized by Geraldine Ferraro’s statements this week are not coincidental, but reflect a determination to inject racial bias into the current election. Knowing that she appeals to a downscale electorate, who are no strangers to racism, she is trying to use the race card to win. Her other hope is likely to entice Obama into playing what he calls “the angry black man” role so as to turn off voters. It is a disgusting approach to the election and the Clintons deserve to be called on it.

True Clinton- do everything to win- even if it brings down the Dems in November. Maybe she should be the nominee and lose this year and then they can ride off into the sunset together (no probably seperately)

How does that expression go: “Fool me once …”. This is, at least, the third time she has introduced race into the contest. Her explanation about not being able to control all the people in her campaign was hollow. Her husband was the first to raise the issue, not exactly a distant staffer. Her attempt to dimminish the import of Ferraro as one person on her “very large” finance committee was less than convincing. The incident does show the lengths she and her supporters will go to secure the nomination. The Clinton campaign is clearly positioning based on the voter demographics in Pennsylvania. Sleezy, short sighted but as in Ohio it will probably work to some degree.
The Democrats simply cannot win the Presidency without the black vote but that doesn’t seem to matter right now to HRC as long as she wins the nomination. Like everthing “Clinton” they believe no cut is too deep to heal.
I think Obama handled the situation fairly well but he needs to get onto his message and not be distracted. His message in Penn and going forward needs to be more forceful and specific on the economy. It is the issue now and will be in November. Fortunately for him, neither Clinton or McCain have found their footing on the issue. It is still open for one candidate to seize.

This black strategy is obvious. For that reason it seems to me the super-duper/Dem. establishment should move asap to Obama and end this. Obama will have the most elected delegates-Mich and Fla will not be seated-and should not be seated-the rules are the rules-and with the Fla. Congressional delegation in opposition it is doubtful there wiull be any do-over by mail and Clinton will noit consider a primary and even if she did no one to pay for it. If this race continues and there is a white backlash and Obama loses not only blacks but the party left is going to walk in the fall. Again the party establishment and the super-dupers need to force HRC out NOW by moving to Obama as the nominee-otherwise John McCain is looking better and better as HRC continues to make a mess of the democratic race. I can live with McCain for 4 years-I don’t like it-but I will if for no other reason than to ensure Clinton does not get the prize.

I agree with your article and the above comments. I was astounded by MSNBC’s Kieth Obberman’s “Special Comment” on the subject last night. He really put the truth out there in a big way. It is worth viewing on MSNBC webpage.

I can’t help but notice that the majority of Clinton surrogates look mean and angry and Obama’s, in contrast, look kind and have a grace about them. Sometimes, usually after a Clinton attack, they can look tired but never angry or bitter the way Clinton’s surrogates look and act.

“The Angry Old White Women” a quote I saw on a blog. Got me thinking as did Ferraro’s comments. There seem to be some, not all, white women who are older that are very angry about Hillary not winning the nomination. They seem to be full of an unbriddled rage and are on many blogs expressing themselves in ultimatums and threats. I thought hard about it and I figure they are very hurt.

I think these may be the women who, because of oppression and prejudice, sacrificed their feminine qualities to compete in male dominated work environments. They took on male qualities supprssing the very essence of their beings, some forgoing children to be partners in law firms, trail blazers who sacrificed all to break the glass cieling. They have paid an exacting price and one not often spoken of in terms of hurt, suffering and loss. Usually, these losses are left to fall silent when acknowledging the trail blazers, pioneers, the first women to break the glass cieling….WOOHO!!

These “Angry Old White Women” their feminine nature beaten down by prejudice and by necessity they had to beat it back themselves, learning to hate their own feminine qualities, feeling the self betrayal, lack of respect and resenting the feminine qualities in others. Then comes the younger generation of females who these “older white women” believed owed them a debt of gratitude and whom would take their place and finish breaking all the glass cielings…reenforcements finally.

Yet, when the younger generation of females arrived it was like Aliens vs Preditor. Neither liked the position of the other.

The younger generation felt entitled to remain grounded in their feminine qualities while in the workplace and they were not willing to work 90 plus hours per week. They thought the older generation of females were too much like men and had sacrificed far too much. The Older women resented the younger women who dressed in brighter colors, wanted equal pay and enjoyed the idea of going home to their families at 5:00pm. These younger women seemed to value their home lives more than breaking a glass cieling…..and it goes on.

I hope in all this discussion of gender and race that we can take a moment to acknowledge the pain, suffering and loss of of the older women in their rolls as trail blazers. I am not saying they are not offensive in thier tone of entitlement, and anger bordering on hatred. I am saying they need a healing of sorts…maybe if we acknowledge their contributions and their losses it will help.

I am not voting for Barack Obama to spite them or deny them the respect they have never achieved. I simply believe he is a unique candidate for our times and his innate talents and feminine qualities are what this Country needs to heal.

Hillary can play all the cards that she wants……..the deck is stacked against her statistically…..I see Lenny Davis was is on a “fishing expedition” in support of the race issue. America suffers from pathological anxiety regarding racism….and although this country is passionately racist……this is going to have a reverse effect for Hillary. My hat off to you Dick. You are one of the most interesting people to watch and a seasoned political warrior. Surely would like see a network sponsor you for your own show. You have command of presence, something Americans like to see in a person and you are so natural. Continued success…….and give them a dose of their own medicine.
