The more the Clinton campaign talks about using super delegates to override the will of the people and using the credentials fight over Michigan and Florida to nullify Obama’s victories, the more she is creating those very victories by showing how old line, arrogant, and authoritarian she and her campaign really is. The image the campaign is presenting to the electorate is uniformly negative. She is threatening to cast aside the will of the voters and to coast to victory sponsored by the entitled establishment of the party. This is a recipe for losing so many primaries and so many caucuses that she can’t win no matter how many strings she pulls. That is precisely the situation in which she finds herself. By trumpeting her survival strategy to anyone who will listen, she nullifies the chances she had to survive the primaries and caucuses with a lead.

What defies logic to me is that a group as large as it is continues to heed the rally cry of these two megalomaniacs. The Clintons’ arrogance, sense of entitlement and distain and disrespect for the electorate
as a whole was on display, front and center, long before Bill was even elected to his first term. These two people are far too self serving to ever be effective as public servants. What kind of father behaves the way Bill did with a young daughter growing up within the same quarters? What kind of mother figure pilfers antiques from the White House on her way out the door? The bonus round includes nuclear secrets for contributions. Questionable legal practices. Financial resources for the campaign and tax information undisclosed. If Hillary’s fan club was limited to the uneducated, I could understand. But far too many women I know and respect are blinded by the thought of a woman in the White House. I love the idea of a woman president. But please, let’s be sure of the measure of the woman before we vote her in. And Ladies, understand that Bill is the free sample inside the package. Have you noticed how hard it is for him to have Hillary be in the limelight? How ironic it is that his pathological need to be the center of attention early in the game may well have derailed her bid for the Presidency.
Good piece. I agree but I do wonder if there are substantial numbers of people who see her negative, petty campaigning as a sign of her strength. Her support is coming from somewhere.
For me I want a government that gets on with finding solutions to our problems and creating a better future.
HRC:
Wanting to count Florida and Michigan shows she will do anything to become President, even go back on her own agreements. Sounds like Bush/Chaney.
The Superdelegate thing shows she puts herself ahead of her party. If the SD’s were to overturn an Obama majority, or an HRC majority for that matter, it would spit the party and put the election at risk for Dems. I am sure if they overturned an Obama majority they would lose big with blacks, young people and independents. Even if she wins fairly she will need Obama to hold those groups.
Her weekend attack on Obama for plagiarism is petty. Did she write all of her words? What he did wasn’t clean but lets stick to the real issues. Her actions bring to mind the phrase “get a life”.
Overall, I could not support her. If she is this divisive and petty within her own party I can just imagine the rancor of the next four years with her as President. We would have four more years of gridlock and another do nothing government.
I would have to go with McCain who has a real track record of bi-partisan legislation leading to real solutions and hold my nose on a few things. We just cannot afford another four years of bickering.
Great article. I am finding that I want so desperatley to believe all that you are say about Hilary’s chances. And I too, wonder if the general public gets it about the two of them. I am counting on your experience with all these polls to keep me from tearing my hair out just thinking about her in the final election and God forbid four years after that. Keep encouraging us with your in depth look at the potentials of this race! I am a registered conservative Republican that is supporting Obama just to get rid of the bickering!
