Bush’s visit to Capitol Hill to push his immigration reform bill has, in effect, transformed the vote on the bill into the American equivalent of a British confidence vote. In a parliamentary country, he would have to resign if he lost the vote. Here, he will stay but be slowly twisting in the wind for the next eighteen months.
In a sense, this vote has assumed an importance somewhat akin to the impeachment vote on Bill Clinton, also eighteen months before his terms ended. If the Democrats had deserted him on that vote, he would have had to leave office. If the Republicans desert Bush on this vote, he might as well do so.

I have a solution for the immigration problem! Simple: The USA should adopt the Mexico Immigration policy! Check it out:

You notice there is no condition for amnesty!!
Since Mexico has all answers, except for job creation, why not adopt Mexico’s immigration policies. Why must a nation that has more resources then Japan rely on foreign nations to take on its unemployed masses? Even if Mexico wants the southwest back,,, how would Mexico city provided the social services and jobs that the Southest would need? I have never seen such answers. I only predict that the Southwest and the rest of the nation would slide into 3rd world status and become a similar nation to the rest of the Latin American nations.
GB sat on his arse for six years hoping the problem would get intractable - guess what - it did - now the clown expects us to believe him - sorry, Geo, we’re stuffed full of lies - cant hold any more - he didn’t live up to his constitutional responsibility to enforce the law - IMPEACH the incompetent and replace him with someone that will
It seems clear that if the government refuses to enforce current law, they cannot be trusted to enforce laws contained in new legislation.
If I understand this correctly, funds (4 billion) to build a 300 mile fence will come from fines collected from the illegals. Firstly, this once again puts the horse before the cart and ignores the out cry for enforcement first. Secondly, it is ludicrous to believe the government will be able to collect these funds/fines at all. What a crock!
Show me the fence that will keep Mexicans in Mexico and then we talk.
