We predict in our new book 2010: Take Back America – A Battle Plan, Republicans will takeover of both Houses of Congress. The question is: once they achieve power, what will they do with it?
Clearly the dominant issue for the new Congress in 2011 will be how to bring down the deficit. Democrats will, of course favor tax increases and Republicans will resist them. But drowning out the partisan rhetoric will be the editorial drumbeat from the economic and journalistic establishments that will call for compromise, splitting the difference between the two.

Politics is no longer a spectator sport. Those in the grandstands must leave their seats and come down on the playing field to help their side score. That is the key lesson of the Obama campaign. He didn’t just have supporters. He had campaign workers–millions of them.

As Republicans contemplate their response to President Obama’s coming nomination to the Supreme Court, we should go beyond the traditional scrutiny over social issues and demand that any nominee elaborate his or her views about the constitutionality of the recent legislation passed by this Administration. The hearings on his nominee will be an ideal opportunity to convince the public of the unconstitutionality of his power grabs.

If the financial regulation bill that passed the House last year becomes law, President Obama and his Treasury Secretary will acquire the right to take over any financial institution they wish to, provided that, in their sole opinion, it is both “too big to fail” and on the brink of insolvency. The House bill provides for no judicial review and does not require any objective evidence of imminent failure to trigger the takeover provisions.
Once the government takes over such a company, it will acquire the right to replace the entire board of directors, fire the management of the company, wipe out stockholder equity and even sell off divisions of the company.

THE HIDDEN LIFE OF HARRY REID
By Dick Morris and Eileen McGann
Beating Senator Majority Leader Harry Reid must be our number one priority.
Reid is an old-time deal maker who’s been accused of using his influence to line his own and his family’s pockets. Like many of his colleagues, he has an ethical tin ear and will never admit that he’s wrong.
According to the latest CBS News Poll, President Obama’s health care bill has lost seven points in popularity since it passed last month. When the legislation passed, it won approval from 41% of Americans according to a CBS poll taken at the time. Now, the network reports that only 34% back the legislation. Since July, backing for the plan stood at 49% in CBS’ polling.
If any nation wants to attack the United States with chemical, biological, or electromagnetic pulse weapons, it need not fear nuclear retaliation as long as it has no nuclear weapons and abides by the Non Proliferation Treaty, Obama has announced. So, as New Yorkers are coughing their lungs out from mustard gas or dying in the streets of biological weapons, they will know that their government will not use nuclear weapons to retaliate against their murderers.
Stanley Greenberg and James Carville claim that the Republican Party has peaked too soon. Incredibly, Greenberg says “when we look back on this, we’re going to say Massachusetts is when 1994 happened.” Stan’s only claim to expertise in the 1994 elections, of course, is that he’s the guy who blew it for the Democrats. Right after that, President Clinton fired both of the flawed consultants and never brought them back again.
On Tuesday, April 13th, our new book entitled 2010: Take Back America – A Battle Plan goes on sale. (for those wishing autographed copies order it from Amazon.com or BN.com and you will get one as long as supplies last).
The book lays out why we must win the midterm elections and how to do it.
The second half of Karl Rove’s memoir Courage and Consequences, you’ve already read if you have followed the intricate and specific defenses the Bush Administration put forth to parry Democratic attacks.
But…the first half you’ve never seen before! Here we meet a vulnerable, human, sensitive man struggling to rise above a plebian background and make his way in the world. The transition from the honesty and appealing openness of the first half and the institutionalized, politically correct defenses of the second perhaps illustrates the changes that power brings to us all.
